Travelling light

Since 1994 I’ve visited nine US states on four trips, including two pilgrimages to San Francisco to explore the setting of Armistead Maupin’s wonderful Tales Of The City books; and, at the end of 2000, I took a month-long dream holiday in Australia, taking in Sydney, Uluru, Brisbane, the Barrier Reef and lots more.

On this page you’ll find thoughts, anecdotes, pictures and stories taken from some of my travels. The style (and quality) of the writing is variable; some, like the description of Sydney Opera House, is just factual narrative thrown together to link the photographs, while other pieces (like the pizza story) are more emotional and reflective.
